President Signs “Right-to-Try” Drug Legislation, Hints at Drug Price Announcements

June 01, 2018

President Trump signed a new law allowing terminally ill patients to use experimental medications that have not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, without requiring employers to cover the costs.

The only medications that will be available are those that have already passed the FDA’s basic safety testing and remain within the FDA’s approval process.

President Trump promised upcoming news on drug prices:  “We're going to have some of the big drug companies in two weeks," he said during the signing, "and they're going to announce — because of what we did — they're going to announce voluntary massive drops in prices, so that's great.”
