Colleen McHugh is Executive Vice President, Health Care Initiatives for the Health Care Policy Roundtable LLC. Colleen is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of strategies to promote health care market reforms and programs to address the needs of employers, employees and retirees on behalf of the HR Policy Association's Health Care Policy Roundtable. In this capacity, Colleen is responsible for supporting both the ongoing development and management of the Association's Retiree Health Access Coalition. She is also helping to support the Association's Pharmaceutical Coalition.
Colleen is also an executive of the American Health Policy Institute (AHPI)—the non-profit think tank that was established to examine the impact of health policy on large employers, and to explore and propose policies that will help bolster the ability of large employers to provide quality, affordable health care to employees and their dependents. Colleen has been a leader of the Institute’s latest initiative—the Health Care Future State, a collaboration of the large employer community to establish a fundamentally different approach to health care—one designed for employers, by employers.
Colleen has more than 25 years of insurance industry benefits expertise. Prior to joining the Association, Colleen served as the National Head of Sales and Strategy for Aetna's Group Medicare Segment where she was responsible for strategy development and marketing of the carrier's retiree solutions for large employers. She held prior roles in sales, operations and marketing in other benefit specialties, including annuities and pensions.
Colleen is a graduate of the Teikyo Post University.
